As a child, David Doubilet was fascinated with the ocean, regularly snapping pictures of bathers off the coast of his native New Jersey. Well, his fascination turned into a full-time occupation with Doubilet serving for the past 30-odd years as a frequent photographer for National Geographic Magazine. His photo book, Water Light Time, is a collection of some of Doubilet’s most beautiful underwater photos. With nearly 250 pages, the book offers a serene, contemplative assortment of different marine flora and fauna. Floating eels, huge tuna, jellies, seals, rays, and many other animals adorn the pages of this book, with each photo offering a rich mix of subject, texture, and lighting. This is coffee table material that is easy on the mind, but satisfying for the senses. If floating calmly underwater while fish swim lazily by your mask is your kind of thing, then this will be an enjoyable book.  (October 2011)
